Coffee Break, Food & Drink

The Bönared Local History Museum

One of the municipality’s oldest houses, dating from the 17th century, is located at the Bönared Local History Farm. Here, visitors can enjoy the area’s most famous strawberry cake. During a few hectic summer weeks, Bönared’s heritage farm is visited by about 10,000 guests who drink coffee and enjoy the famous strawberry cake. For many years, the property served as a parsonage and was owned by the Diocese of Skara, but it now belongs to the Bjurbäck Heritage Association.

BergaLotta'sIce Cream Café

Just around the corner on Stjärnvägen (about a 3-km walk), you’ll find a small ice cream café serving ice cream from Lejonet and Björnen. Their ice cream is made with the highest-quality ingredients and has heavenly flavors. Definitely worth a visit!

Café Blåbäret

Café Blåbäret is a small café with about 40 seats. It serves buns, cookies, and delicious cakes in an idyllic garden setting. Everything is homemade. Gluten-free, sugar-free, egg-free, and lactose-free options are also available. Service is in the garden only. Open during the summer when the weather is nice.

Landhs Bakery

A cozy, historic pastry shop by the lake in downtown Mullsjö, open since 1933. Here you’ll find classic Swedish coffee and pastries, lunch, and a lovely outdoor seating area by the water.

Källekulla Farm

At Källekulla’s self-service stand, you’ll find eggs from the farm’s chickens, KRAV-certified potatoes, and—for much of the year—apples from Skärstad outside Huskvarna. The company also sells organic beef from its beef cattle herd. During strawberry season, don’t miss the strawberries grown and sold on the farm. You can also find these strawberries during the season here at Mullsjö Hotel.

The Cellar Bakery

At this small family-run bakery in the heart of Mullsjö, you’ll find pastry chef Therese Tornell’s delicious bread, cookies, buns, and cakes. They use authentic ingredients with no additives. Here, you can buy or order your morning rolls, buns, cakes, or sandwich cakes. They now also have a cozy dining area, both indoors and outdoors.

Carina's Bakery

Carina's Bakery is located on a farm in Nunnered, Bjurbäck, just outside Mullsjö. You'll find the bakery in the old barn, which has been renovated. Throughout the year, Carina organizes various events in the barn, such as art exhibitions and markets.

The Brewery

You’ll find this small brewery at Järnväggatan 69 in Mullsjö. Adjacent to the brewery is a low-alcohol beer and barbecue shop. All beer production takes place in the building, and you can even take a look inside the facilities when brewing isn’t underway. Call Nina and Magnus Tjäder to book a visit. You can also order products from their online store.

Mullsjö Local History Museum

High up on one of Mullsjö’s hills, at Gunnarsbovägen 34, lies the Mullsjö Local History Farm. It is a beautiful and well-preserved 19th-century farm that once served as a teacher’s residence.
Nykyrke Local History and Antiquities Society

Tavelhult Local History Museum

The local history museum in Tavelhult houses the municipality’s largest collection of everyday objects—around 10,000 items. The Utvängstorp Local History Association established the museum. It contains around 10,000 numbered and registered objects. This is a hands-on museum where you’re welcome to touch the objects.

Open Monday evenings during the summer.

Ryfors

Experience Ryfors’ history firsthand! The old ironworks, dating back to 1742, has been brought back to life with an active blacksmith’s shop, a concert hall in the old smelting channel, and a skittles alley that’s now open for play. Ryfors Ironworks has been owned by the Sager family for four generations. After a “Sleeping Beauty” slumber in the 1960s and 1970s, the mill has been revitalized and the buildings are once again in use. Here, you can play skittles, visit the active blacksmith shop, and find the golf office in the dairy. There’s also the power station that has supplied the residents of Mullsjö with electricity for over 100 years, and a concert hall in the “old smelting house.”

Rullesås School

In Rullesås, just outside Sandhem, the old 19th-century school has been preserved. Among other things, the magnificent old pipe organ is still there. During the renovation of a property in Sjövik, old documents about the construction of the school in Rullesås were discovered by chance.

The House of Legends

Take a journey among giants, trolls, and other creatures, and discover what our ancestors believed in. Visit Sägnernas Hus, a unique folk museum. The museum describes the beliefs of our ancestors. Here you can experience excitement and mystery among trolls, giants, and gnomes, the Forest Lady, the Näck, and many more creatures.

The Match Museum

Jönköping is home to the old Match Museum. The museum is housed in a beautiful wooden building dating from 1848, just a stone’s throw from the southern shore of Lake Vättern.

Huskvarna Factory Museum

The Husqvarna Museum is operated by the Huskvarna Local History Association. The museum receives no public funding and is entirely dependent on admission fees, donations, and other sources of income. The museum undertakes, time permitting and for a fee, to conduct commissioned research on weapons, motorcycles, and other objects.

Näs Farm

Näs Gård is a designated historic building featuring one of Sweden’s two surviving gatehouses from the 17th century. It is located right on the shores of Lake Nässjön. Näs Gård is a wooden structure with a renowned 17th-century gatehouse in the Carolingian style. It is one of only two such gatehouses still standing in Sweden. The other is located at Misterhult Manor in Kalmar County. In addition to the main farmhouse, wings, and gatehouse, the estate also includes a storehouse, a laundry shed, and a farmhand’s cottage, all of which are now designated as cultural heritage sites.

Ryttaren's Peat Straw Factory

Here you can learn how the peat extraction operations were carried out and how they provided jobs for several hundred people at the same time. Parts of the peat railway have been designated as historic landmarks. Peat production began in the early 1900s and continued until 1997. At its peak, 200 people worked at the factory and the peat bog. In 2012, the peat processing plant and parts of the peat railway were designated as historic landmarks, and the site is well worth a visit.

The Motorcycle Museum in Sandhem

The Motorcycle Museum in Sandhem houses an impressive collection of vintage motorcycles from 1913 to 1958. Vintage English motorcycles. If you have even the slightest interest in motorcycles, you should take a trip to Sandhem. In the old industrial building on Kyllevägen in Sandhem, enthusiast Bengt-Olof Karlsson has his collection of vintage English motorcycles—about 25 road and racing bikes.

Watercolor Paintings in Broholm

The dream of owning a gallery came true when artist Birgit Adolfsson and her husband found their dream home—an 18th-century house with an adjoining old trading post—right on the shores of Lake Stråken in Broholm. For the past 15 years, Birgit has been exhibiting her watercolors and handmade paper cards here. Birgit paints large, fluid watercolors inspired by flowers and landscapes from the surrounding area. She has participated in many juried exhibitions in other locations.

Birgit is open whenever she's home and feels like it. If you see the "Open" sign, she's open, but if you want to be sure she's there, you can call.

Taberg Mine

Join us for an exciting tour through the inner mine tunnels of Taberg.

For one hour, you’ll be guided both outside and inside the mine. There, you’ll hear the story of what happened to the mountain and why it’s so unique. Taberg is known for its bats, and there are 9 different species in the area around the mine.

You can easily get to Jönköping via the new highway—it takes about 20 minutes—or take the train, which is a 10-minute ride from the hotel; get off just outside Asecs to do some shopping during the day. Open every day of the week.

Mösseberg Zoo, Falköping

The zoo, located near the observation tower on Mösseberg, is a popular destination. The park is home to many animals, including goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs, fallow deer, Shetland ponies, peacocks, and chickens. Free admission! Open 24 hours a day. Staff on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Restrooms available.

Here you’ll find cobblestone streets and charming low-rise houses.
And Visingsö is just a short ferry ride away.

Julared Hagård's Barn"

If you don’t live near Liseberg, you have to create your own adventure park. That’s what the Hagård family thought when, a few years ago, we started building zip lines, climbing walls, and team-building activities right here on our farm. Since then, countless people have had fun together in the part of Julared known as Hagårds Lagård. Now, Hagårds Lagård also has a slightly more laid-back sister property: Julared Glamping. Here, you can unwind after an active day among the treetops and hiking trails.

Canoe

The Paths

Popular paddling spots include the long, narrow Stråken. The lake, which is 24 kilometers long, is unique in that it is often calm. Here, you’re close to both nature and wildlife. Along the lake, there are several nice rest areas and cozy wind shelters.

Tidan

It flows through parts of Stråken and is a true canoeing classic. The route is 144 kilometers long in total. You’ll pass through several bird sanctuaries as you paddle.

Kyrkekvarn Icelandic Horses

Horseback riding on Icelandic horses year-round. You can choose whether you want to ride for a couple of hours or take a longer tour that includes both a snack break and dinner. The terrain is hilly and varied, making it ideal for riding Icelandic horses. Whether you’re an experienced rider, somewhat experienced, or a beginner, you’ll be matched with a horse that suits your skill level. There are special horseback riding activities for children.

Playing golf at Ryfors truly means walking on historic golfing ground. Just over 130 years ago, brothers Robert and Edward Sager had Scandinavia’s first golf course built right here.

Mullsjö Ski Center

Seven ski runs

Mullsjö Ski Center has everything from simple children’s and practice slopes to runs with gradients of up to 30 degrees in some places. There are easy, difficult, and bumpy runs, as well as larger “Big Jumps” for those who dare!

Guaranteed snow

With 60 modern snow cannons, Mullsjö Skidcenter can produce 600 cubic meters of snow per hour and is one of southern Sweden’s most snow-reliable ski resorts.

Five hitchhikers

High lift capacity gets you back to the top quickly. The children's slope has two lifts, so even the youngest children can get to the top easily.

Restaurant, kiosk, and warming hut

The restaurant serves both light snacks and hot meals. There is also a warming hut, a kiosk, and barbecue areas.

Ski Shop

At the ski shop, you can rent ski and snowboard equipment and sign up for ski lessons, among other things.

Cross-Country Skiing

The Msok Cabin

At the Mullsjö Ski and Orienteering Club (MSOK), there is a 4-kilometer trail with artificial snow. The trail is lit until 10:00 p.m. When there is sufficient natural snow, a longer touring trail is connected to the artificial snow trail.

Fridhem

The ski trails in Fridhem are easy and mostly run through meadows. Depending on snow conditions, there are 2.5 to 5 kilometers of trails to ski on.

Ryfors Golf Course

In the winter, the Ryfors Golf Course offers wonderful cross-country ski trails measuring 4.2 and 8.5 kilometers. If there is a lot of snow, a longer trail may be available. The Stråkenloppet race is held on the last Sunday in January every year.

Sandhem

Sandhem Ski Stadium has a 2.5-kilometer trail and two longer trails measuring 5 and 10 kilometers. The 2.5-kilometer trail is lighted.

Disc Golf

Right in the heart of Mullsjö, by the water tower on Gunnarsbovägen, you’ll find one of the town’s newest attractions—a disc golf course that’s currently taking shape. The course features 18 holes set in a varied landscape of woods, parkland, and open spaces, and is suitable for both beginners and more experienced players. Disc golf is a sport for all ages and requires no prior experience.
The course is free of charge and open to the public.
