An oasis for the soul
At Björkhaga Hotel & Conference, you can let your body and mind unwind in the relaxation area, which features a sauna, two hot tubs, and sofas. If you’d like to treat your significant other to a “romantic getaway,” we recommend our Weekend Package, which includes afternoon coffee and pastries, chocolate in your room, a bathrobe and slippers, access to the relaxation area, and a three-course dinner. If you’re a true foodie, we recommend ourGourmet Package, which includes access to the relaxation area and a five-course dinner in the evening. Access to the spa is included in all our packages, and you can always add sparkling wine in your room to any of our hotel packages during the online booking process.
The hotel’s hot tubs are located in the gazebo, where you can bathe surrounded by nature; whether it’s lush and green in summer or softly white in winter, it creates a relaxing atmosphere. The relaxation area also features a shower and changing rooms.

The Family Guesthouse
The Hotel's History
Guests have been welcomed here since 1910
The history of Björkhaga Hotel & Conferencedates back to 1907, when Sven Johan Svensson and his wife Johanna Axell had Björkhaga built. In 1909, they moved into the large residence with their daughters Elin and Lisa, aged 34 and 29, respectively.
On June 1, 1910, the sisters opened Björkhaga Pensionat, which became Mullsjö’s second guesthouse. During this period, Mullsjö gradually developed into a resort town with numerous guesthouses for city dwellers seeking to enjoy the fresh country air.
The cost of staying at Björkhaga Pensionat with full board was 3–3.5 kr per day. Meals were served in the main building (where much of the activity still takes place today), and this is where guests gathered to “socialize,” play games, listen to piano music, and eventually even the radio.
Renovation Timelines
Gunhild Eriksson's time
In 1949, Gunhild Eriksson from Bottnaryd purchased Björkhaga and continued to run it for 25 years. Gunhild had previously worked at a guesthouse in the Stockholm archipelago and run “Gunhild’s Banquet Hall” in Huskvarna. During the first year, Björkhaga was completely renovated: running water was installed in all rooms, the kitchen received a new stove, and the dining room was expanded to the south.
A Time of Change
From a guesthouse to a hotel
In 1974, Gunhild Eriksson retired and sold Björkhaga to Karin and Bertil Persson. The guesthouse continued to operate but was soon sold again to Christer Pernstam in 1979.
In the early 1980s, Pernstam made a major investment in expanding winter tourism and built the Mullsjö Alpin ski slope in Knaggebo. To accommodate larger groups at Björkhaga, a new kitchen and a larger dining room were built, and the number of rooms was expanded from 10 to 27. This marked the beginning of Björkhaga’s transition from a traditional guesthouse to a hotel and conference center. The business has since been known as Björkhaga Hotell & Konferens.
Björkhaga Today
In 1996, restaurant partners Katarina Kvarnström and Peter Lundberg purchased Björkhaga and further developed the business into the modern hotel and conference center that Björkhaga is today. The hotel is a natural gathering place for locals, with a fantastic restaurant offering lunch and fine dining, and it’s the perfect venue for weddings and parties. The modern conference facilities and attentive service make it an excellent choice for both small and large companies to hold their meetings and conferences here. Many organizations also choose to hold their meetings at Björkhaga. Björkhaga is also a popular lodging choice for tourists from around the world who come to Mullsjö to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings, including hiking and biking trails, downhill and cross-country skiing, canoeing, sports, and everything else the region has to offer.
